UFO History: January 3, 1971

The weather here in Pennsylvania took a turn for the worst today and I will be happy to be back at home in Virginia Beach soon. While the temperature may still be chilly, there is less of a chance of seeing snow. My plan is to head back tomorrow. 

Tonight though, I wanted to get caught up with my travels into UFO History. For today, January 3, I decided to go back across the pond to Salisbury Plain, England in 1971. 

In this case, a RAF expert claims that the Ministry of Defence in Britain asked him to keep quiet after he tracked a whole fleet of spaceships on military radar in 1971. Sixty Wing Commander Alan Turner, 64, who was a chief operator of the RAF's radar system for 29 years, said that all his colleagues were surprised to see 35 super-fast vessels appear on their screens.

He went on that the craft were equally spaced and shot from 3,000 ft to 60,000 ft at almost 300 mph and revealed that each UFO would suddenly vanish from radar after a few seconds, replaced by an identical vessel moments later. 

According to Turner, six military radars and operators at Heathrow spotted the UFOs east of Salisbury Plain and filed reports on the unexplained phenomenon later in 1971.

This is another interesting sighting that involved radar activity and multiple witnesses. When looking at this data, it will be another interesting trip into the world of FOIA to see if these documents can be located.
