UFO History: January 2, 2024 - President Jimmy Carter

 

Last week, America lost a former president, when Jimmy Carter passed away. Ironically, that in itself could be some type of weird Mandela Effect, as many people thought that had happened previously. 

I will admit, I thought he was dead at one point myself, but I do remember hearing that he voted for Kamala in the 2024 election in November. I originally laughed, because we know the dead have voted before (See JFK election). 

That leads to this and why he is the subject for UFO History for January 2. Why? Because 

President Jimmy Carter reported seeing an unidentified flying object (UFO) in October 1969, while he was waiting to give a speech at a Lions Club meeting in Leary, Georgia. 

He described the object as being "very bright [with] changing colors and about the size of the moon." The sighting was witnessed by approximately 10 to 12 other people who were with Carter at the time. They observed the object hovering about 30 degrees above the horizon, moving closer to them before it eventually disappeared into the distance. 

Carter was so struck by this experience that he eventually filed a report on the incident in 1973, when he was the Governor of Georgia. In his account, he noted that the object seemed to move towards them, stop, move partially away, return, and then depart. The object was described as "bluish at first, then reddish, luminous, not solid." 

Carter disappointed many in the UFO community after running on a soft-disclosure platform in 1976, stating he would release all the information if elected. As you already know, it never happened. Like many, Carter used the “National Defense” mantra to deflect any and all questions on the topic.

While many are convinced Carter had an encounter, others believe it was just a misidentification of a high-altitude rocket-released barium cloud from an Air Force experiment at Eglin Air Force Base. The description does have similarities, but no corroborating evidence has been brought forth to verify that. 

No matter how you feel about Carter, the man or his presidency, the fact that he was open about his sighting in the face of ridicule at the time was a big step forward in the political spectrum. In many ways, he cracked the door that many are walking through today.
