UFO History: December 23, 1977 - UFO-Bigfoot Connection

One of my favorite books in the mystery genre is Silent Invasion by Stan Gordon. Stan has been researching strange phenomena for decades and compiled one of the most complete books on the UFO Flap that took place in Pennsylvania during the 1970s. Growing up in that area, especially in a rural part of the state, I was familiar with many locations in the book and still do some searching when back home. 

One of the craziest things documented in Silent Invasion was the amount of sightings that involved a Bigfoot-type creature. Multiple documented cases during this period had sightings of both Bigfoot and UFOs involved. 

I was extremely excited today when digging into history for December 23, when I found one of these cases documented outside of the book. This sighting took place in Trent, Pennsylvania back in 1977.

In this case, two witnesses observed an oval-shaped craft with a string of lights on top and bottom, circling overhead in a wooded area near Trent. Panicked, the witnesses ran home to get a flashlight and returned later. When they returned, they discovered a similar object hovering at treetop level about 50 yards away. The object then began to spin, tilted downwards and descended below the trees. 

Just moments after the craft descended toward the ground the witnesses were overwhelmed by a strange odor. The odor was described as the smell of rotting flesh. Suddenly, they were surprised when a whistling sound filled the air and an eight-foot tall ape-like creature was standing nearby. The witnesses claim the creature had light brown hair, an egg-shaped head; long neck, long dangling arms and two glowing white eyes.

Startled, the creature turned and bolted into the brush. Moments later, the witnesses briefly observed a bright white flash of light coming from the woods. Later they also heard several loud booms in the vicinity.

This is a great example from that timeframe of the sightings that were taking place in Pennsylvania at the time. I still go back rather often to research sightings of both Bigfoot and UFOs, and I will be doing it again soon.
