Archived Data: Bigfoot Prints in Connecticut

I was going through some of my archived emails earlier today and stumbled upon an interesting exchange from all the way back in 2012 with investigator Jon Nowinski, a close friend and colleague, who had found some intriguing tracks on a hike in the Steep Rock Preserve. 

While no creature was found, the prints are an interesting reminder of what possibly lurks in our forests. The Steep Rock Preserve and the surrounding Washington Depot area in Connecticut’s Litchfield Hills form a rugged, densely forested landscape where stories of the unexplained are sprinkled through its history. 

While I never made it to this area when I lived in Connecticut, I did work some cases on the rediscovery of a mountain lion in the region; investigating a potential Bigfoot sighting would not be out of the realm of possibility. Yes, there is no single sighting of note; there is a long history of strange activities in the area. 

In the years following Jon’s print discovery, there have been multiple Bigfoot encounters documented by the Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO), making it a potential under-the-radar hot spot for activity. 

On top of the potential sasquatch activity, the surrounding area is steeped with lore, with the Litchfield area holding a handful of interesting tales and legends that stem from Dudleytown and the talk of curses, mysterious deaths, and strange feelings of dread. This area has a lineage of unexplained activity and is rich with research opportunities for those interested. 

Unfortunately, I was never able to make it back out to research this region with Jon, who tragically lost his battle with multiple health issues and passed away. On that day, the world lost a great person, and the research community lost a giant light in the darkness. But his impact remains, and his research should not be forgotten.
